Hydraulic Structures

SAGE offers site investigation, planning, design, and construction monitoring services for major infrastructure projects associated with water supply and flood control, including canals, flumes, aqueducts, siphons, pumping stations, spillways, flood-control channels, and many other hydraulic structures.

For new developments, one of the primary considerations is the conveyance and/or storage of storm water. As a result, there has been increased need for hydraulic structures such as culverts, headwalls, and outfall structures. In addition, as Best Management Practices (BMP) regulations have become more stringent, the need for detention structures/junction boxes, which are designed to retain and slow peak flows, has also increased. SAGE provides design of these types of structures and more, including:

  • Culverts & headwalls
  • Sewer & storm drain junction boxes
  • Storm drains
  • Energy dissipaters
  • Levees & flood walls
  • Weirs
  • Small dams
  • Pipelines
  • Detention basins

As our nation’s infrastructure ages, existing facilities must be evaluated to assess their continued functionality. To assist in these evaluations, we can provide condition assessment and structural evaluation services for the strengthening, retrofitting, and/or repair of existing hydraulic structures.
