Curious about the potential for earthquakes in Placer County? You’re not alone. This week, the Placer Gold Sons in Retirement invited SAGE’s Vice President and Principal Geologist, Drew Kennedy, to talk about earthquakes and earthquake preparedness in Placer County. Drew is always looking for ways to involve and educate the larger community in the work we do here at SAGE, and this event gave him the opportunity to discuss local seismic hazards including the primary faults impacting the foothills of Placer County and the Lake Tahoe area.
For nearly two decades, Drew has evaluated geologic and seismic hazards for hundreds of open space, public works, residential, and commercial projects throughout California. As the technical lead for geosciences at SAGE, Mr. Kennedy directs geological and seismic hazard investigations for a variety of hydroelectric and water storage/conveyance facilities, including dams, levees, canals, flumes, tunnels, penstocks and powerhouses.
The Placer Gold Sons in Retirement is a 60-year old organization that focuses on improving the lives of its retired and semi-retired members through fun activities and events.
